Hello! I’m Alice, a dedicated Maths Tutor based in Yateley, Hampshire. Currently pursuing a Mathematics degree at the University of Warwick, I have established a successful tutoring service that is tailored to help students excel in GCSE and A-level maths and further maths. My approach combines personalised lesson planning, innovative use of technology through platforms like Google Classroom, and a focus on building strong foundational skills and confidence in my students. With a background enriched by leadership roles and work experience in schools, I bring a well-rounded perspective to education that not only enhances learning but also inspires students to achieve their best. Experience

I have now been tutoring for almost a year. I also achieved all grade 9’s at GCSE including maths and further maths. I also obtained A*, A*, A, A in my A-levels with both A* in maths and further maths, and chose to take additional further maths modules. I have frequently competed in national maths competitions and Olympiads. I have experience working in a secondary maths department supporting students about to take their GCSE maths and further maths exams.

I have also volunteered with my local dance school for many years as a teaching assistant with the younger pupils. I also hold my enhanced DBS check certificate.

Step up Summer Classes

Step Up to A-Level Maths – July 22nd- 26th, July 29th- August 2nd, August 26th – 30th

Focus: This course is designed to bridge the gap between GCSE and A-Level Maths. We will revisit crucial topics from GCSE and introduce vital key areas of A-Level study.
Topics Covered:
* Algebra: Building on existing knowledge and introducing new techniques specific to A-level.
* Binomial Expansion: Understanding and applying the new binomial theorem and use of Pascals’ triangle.
* Logarithms: Introduction to logarithms and the exponential focusing on manipulation.
* Differentiation: Introduction to differentiation from first principles and its applications.
* Integration: Introduction to the technique of integration and its applications.
(Across 5 sessions)

Step Up to Year-13 Maths – July 22nd- 26th, July 29th- August 2nd, August 26th – 30th

Focus: This course aims to reinforce and expand upon the challenging concepts introduced in Year 12, preparing students for the advanced topics they will encounter in Year 13.
Topics Covered:
* Differentiation: Introduction to the chain, product and quotient rules for differentiation and also implicit techniques.
* Integration: Reinforcing the techniques of Year 12 to prepare for the step up this topic takes in Year 13.
* Parametric Equations: Introduction to parametric equations and their applications.
* Sequences and Series: Introduction to arithmetic and geometric progressions and infinite sums.
* Radians: Conversion into radians and uses in trigonometry and calculus.
(Across 5 sessions)

Teaching Approach
* Interactive Sessions: Each class will combine direct teaching with a chance to engage in problem-solving, allowing students to ask questions and get immediate feedback.
* Resources: A dedicated Google Classroom will be set up for each session, where students can access all class materials, including worksheets and presentation slides, to be used during and after sessions.
* Small Class Sizes: Limited to 5 students per session to ensure personalised support and effective learning.

Booking and Additional Information
* Schedule: there are 5 sessions per course above, it is not a requirement that a student completes all 5 however this will give them the most rounded experience
* Pricing: each 45 minute session is priced at £15
* Special Offer: Book four sessions and you will be automatically enrolled on the fifth for free!

One-to-One Summer Sessions:

I am able to offer some one-to-one tuition over the summer for students wishing for more personalised support in specific topics. I ask that you contact me first to discuss your individual needs and my capacity to offer this service. The aim of these sessions is to support students into the next year of their studies by ensuring a deeper understanding of problem areas

I can offer these sessions for any level of maths from KS3 to A-level further maths

DBS checks offer enhanced trustworthiness, legal compliance, safeguarding of vulnerable individuals, peace of mind, protection of reputation, risk reduction, responsibility demonstration, improved service quality, regulatory compliance, and preventative measures against potential risks and liabilities.

I currently hold an enhanced DBS certificate (which is available for inspection on request).


Equipment

You will need access to Google Meet and Google Classroom (which can be downloaded from the Internet) to partake in my online sessions. A computer, laptop or even a tablet can be used successfully. A headset with a built in microphone is required, unless already part of your computer, laptop or tablet. And of course some paper and a pen/pencil.

You will need to find a quiet space, free of interruptions, so you can concentrate on the session. A good stable broadband connection is also helpful to a smooth session.
